About Langold Cemetery
The Cemetery was purchased by the parish council on 30th July 1931 to provide a burial ground for the recently built Langold model village. A technical drawing company based in Worksop was appointed shortly after to draw up the plans for the layout of the cemetery plots/sections and pathways, all drawn at the time in pen and ink.
The first interment was on 27th May 1932 and since that time, over 2000 have taken place. The cemetery is laid out in sections. With Section A being for Ash Interments only (there are other additional areas in the cemetery which can also take ash interments). The other sections being B through to M. The full burial plots can take up to 2 full interments and a further 4 ash interments. Please see the Cemetery Regulations and price list for further information on the rules of the cemetery.
It is a large cemetery and takes a great deal of time and care to keep it in an excellent state in honour of those buried there and for the benefit of friends and loved ones visiting.
On average there are around 25+ interments per year. The Parish Council has appointed Rent A Cut since 2000 as a bespoke contractor who undertakes grave digging, leveling up, path edging/maintenance, they also trim the square yew tree bushes to keep them looking attractive together with a list of other duties in the burial ground. The parish council Lengthsman also undertakes ad-hoc maintenance around the cemetery from path repairs, water tap repairs to removal of self set trees/brambles on graves.
Following a full audit of the graves on site and all our paper records, we have brought the PC into the 21st Century and now operate a digital Burial Register, Invoicing, application forms and Grants of Exclusive Rights (EROB). Our old Paper EROB's have been scanned to PDF documents together with the old paper burial registers. The originals have been sent to the County Archives. The Parish Council have agreed for Pear Technology, a copy who specialise in Town & Parish Council cemetery mapping to map the whole cemetery, including vacant plots, over the coming months, a link to the online interactive database of burials and the online map will become available via this page.
